My husband’s birthday just passed, and he requested a Tres Leche Cake for his birthday. Because his birthday landed on a Monday this year…and also my first day back to substitute teaching…so it was a hectic day, and I’ll admit this is not a traditional Tres Leche Cake, BUT…it is really, really yummy, and just as delicious.
What you’ll need:
- White cake mix
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups of milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can evaporated milk
- Cool whip topping
- 9×13 baking dish
- Non-stick spray
Preheat you oven to 350 degrees, and spray your baking dish with non-stick spray.
Add white cake mix, eggs, butter and 1 cup of milk to mixing bowl. Mix until combined. Bake for 25-35 minutes. Start checking it at 25 minutes and keep baking until the top is lightly brown and a toothpick comes out clean when you poke it in the middle.
Once your cake is finished take out of the oven and set a side to cool. While your cake is baking combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and 1 cup of milk.
Using a fork or a wooden meat skewer poke holes in your cake after it has cooled slightly. Slowly pour your milk mixture all over the top of your cake. I promise it will all get sucked up by the cake.
Cool completely in the refrigerator then top with Cool whip.
It’s also just as delicious the next day!
